Blizzard and Snow Squall Warnings Active Across Ontario as Severe Winter Weather Hits

Blizzard and snow squall warnings remain active across multiple regions of Ontario as a significant winter weather system impacts the province on January 19, 2026. Environment Canada has issued orange-level blizzard warnings and yellow-level snow squall warnings for areas in southern and central Ontario.

Warnings cover at least ten regions, including the Bruce Peninsula, Goderich, Hanover, Niagara Falls, and parts of Perth County. Snowfall totals of 10 to 40 centimetres are forecast, with stronger winds expected to reduce visibility and create hazardous travel conditions.

Snow squalls began Monday morning and are expected to continue into Tuesday morning for many areas. Blowing snow advisories are also in effect, with wind gusts estimated between 60 and 90 kilometres per hour in some locations.

Prince Edward County is under a blizzard warning with forecasts of 20 to 30 centimetres of snow and strong winds. Other communities from Windsor and Kingston to Barrie and Manitoulin Island are under snow squall warnings with expected localized heavy snow.

Travel authorities have warned that visibility may drop to near-zero within bands of snow and that road conditions will be difficult. Residents in affected areas are advised to reduce travel where possible and stay updated on local weather alerts.
