Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi joined thousands of citizens in Tehran during large demonstrations marking International Quds Day, an annual event organized in support of Palestinians and opposition to Israeli policies.

Images shared on social media and reported by international media outlets show Araghchi walking alongside crowds of demonstrators in the Iranian capital as participants carried Palestinian flags and banners. The march took place on major streets of Tehran and drew significant public participation despite rainy weather conditions.

International Quds Day is observed every year on the last Friday of Ramadan in Iran and several other countries. The event was first established in 1979 by Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini following the Iranian Revolution. It is intended to express solidarity with Palestinians and to oppose Israeli control over Jerusalem.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Araghchi said he was proud to march alongside what he described as the “strong and resilient people of Iran” to commemorate International Quds Day. His message emphasized continued Iranian political support for the Palestinian cause and resistance movements in the region.

Footage from the march shows thousands of demonstrators filling major roads in Tehran, with Iranian and Palestinian flags visible throughout the crowd. Security forces and police were also present to manage traffic and maintain order during the procession.

International Quds Day demonstrations are often accompanied by speeches from Iranian officials and religious leaders who reiterate the country’s long-standing stance on the Palestinian issue. The event frequently attracts attention from global media due to Iran’s central role in Middle Eastern politics and its opposition to Israel.
